Stripper allegedly scams woman for implants

A Lexington stripper has been charged with tricking an Anderson County woman into giving her thousands of dollars that she wound up using for breast implants.

Glenda J. Moore, 33, was working at Camelot East strip club while she allegedly befriended a 69-year-old Lawrenceburg woman and convinced her to give her more than $60,000 over two years.

It’s not known how much the breast implants cost and how any remaining money was used.

The two met through the older woman’s son, said Detective Brian Taylor of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Moore told the woman, whose name was not released, that she was in the nursing program at Morehead State University and needed money for tuition, books and labs, Taylor said.

The woman has never attended the university, and it doesn’t appear that she intended to do so, he said. She never took a tour of the school or enrolled in any classes.

Moore also told the woman that she had cancer and needed money for treatment, Taylor said, adding that was also not true.

Moore received $10,000 on two separate occasions from the woman in person.

On another occasion, Moore said she was too sick to leave home, and she sent someone else to pick up the cash.

Taylor said the older woman took a lot of the money out of IRAs and CDs, and will owe the Internal Revenue Service at least $13,000 in penalties.

The 69-year-old called police when she became suspicious. Taylor declined to release details about why the woman became suspicious.

Moore is charged with four counts of theft by unlawful taking, a Class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison for each count. She is being held at the Franklin County jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

Strip club loses booze license for 30 days

Kentucky authorities have suspended for 30 days the liquor license of a Lexington strip club that was caught employing a 14-year-old stripper.

The Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and Camelot West signed a settlement agreement Sept. 8, saying the club would agree to a 30-day suspension of its liquor license and pay a $7,500 fine.

Authorities at ABC determined that Camelot West had violated the law by having a minor on its premises and having an employee under 20-years-old, according to a release from the ABC. A separate charge of maintaining a disorderly premises was dismissed.

The 30-day suspension starts Friday.

The ABC launched its investigation after the club’s owner, Ronald Shields, was arrested.

A Fayette County grand jury dismissed criminal charges against Shields last month. Shields has said that the girl — who worked at the Alexandria Drive club for two days in March — showed him a fake identification card.

The girl’s aunt pleaded guilty earlier this year to unlawful transaction with a minor. The girl’s aunt admitted that she took her niece to the strip club and then took the girl’s money. The girl’s mother found the 14-year-old at the club after getting a tip from relative, according to police reports.
