A woman was punched in the face and pistol-whipped Wednesday morning during an attempted robbery.
The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. at Fulcher Vending, 450 Curry Avenue, according to Lexington police.
A female employee went inside and discovered a masked man with a handgun. The two struggled, then the man fled toward Red Mile Road, Lexington police spokeswoman Ann Gutierrez said. He did not take any cash.
The woman was treated at a hospital and released.
Police say suspects in a robbery Sunday night used bleach as a weapon during a cigarette heist.
The robbery occurred a little before 11 p.m., when four males entered the Convenient market, 1116 Winburn Dr., threw bleach on the manager and then stole cartons of cigarettes, said Lexington Police Lt. Fred Lisanby.
The store employee did not go to the hospital.
Lexington police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon robbery at a Cash Advance on Versailles Road.
A man showed a black handgun and demanded cash from a female employee about 10:30 a.m., said officer Ann Gutierrez, a Lexington police spokeswoman.
The employee complied and the man told her to lie on the floor. She was not injured.
The store, which was temporarily closed, is located at 1222 Versailles Road in a strip mall.
Police were still searching the area two hours later. They watched a surveillance video taken from a camera located outside a storage company’s rental office next door to Cash Advance.
The man was seen walking along the strip mall shortly before the robbery. Witnesses told police he left in a white Chevy S-10 pickup then returned on foot when he robbed the store.
The suspect was described as 60- to 70-years-old, about 5-feet-5 to 5-feet-6 and 140-160 pounds. He has gray hair and was wearing a red and blue flannel shirt with a gray shirt underneath. He also had on jeans and glasses that darkenen in the sun.
