Herald-Leader Staff Report
Police were searching Monday morning for three suspects involved in an assault and attempted robbery outside a Lexington McDonald’s.
A man told police he was renting a DVD from a Redbox kiosk shortly after 2 a.m. Monday outside the McDonald’s, 2321 Versailles Road, when a man approached him and asked for five dollars. He declined and the unknown suspect struck him in the head with a bottle, said Chris Sutton, a Lexington police spokesman.
The man ran to his car and the suspect threw the bottle at him striking him in the eye. He sustained only minor injuries, Sutton said.
A second suspect tried to get into the man’s vehicle, but did not. One of the vehicle’s windows was broken, he told police.
The two suspects fled with a third person toward an apartment complex behind the restaurant. Police searched the area, but could not find them, Sutton said.
The first suspect was described as a Hispanic man between 20 to 25 years, about 5-foot-9. He had a thin-line beard and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black shorts, Sutton said. There was no description of the other two suspects.

why would you be at a mcdonalds at 2 in the morning. Come on people.
Lawsuits will follow just like the coffee which is supposed to be hot. Will have to post a security officer next to the Red Box 24/7.
why not you should be able to go out and rent a movie anytime you want to without being afraid of being attacked- I think I would have picked a better area to go to though!
if you should be able to go out and rent a movie anytime shopuldn’t you be able to rent it any where not just one area of towm. No matter what part of town you sre in at 2am there is a chance of getting into trouble

Next time he should take a gun and use it.
The funniest part about this is that this is my brother in-law. I had the same question when I got awakened at 2am with a phone call from my sister saying that he got robbed at Mcyd’s. The first thing that came to my mind also “what the heck were you doing going to Mcdonalds at 2am?” They are both good people and I am just glad that my sister was not with him. What is going on in your city anyway?
The man is my husband, and he went to mcd’s on harrodsburg bc it was open and we were hungry! We work 2nd shift so those are our hours. He stopped at the versailles location bc the other one did not have the movie he wanted to get me. He was just trying to be nice and surprise me with food and a movie after a rough day. To the gun lover, he may not have had a gun, but he did have a knife I got him for xmas! Next year I will have to upgrade. The only reason he was able to come home to me in one piece was bc he defended himself.
Hey greeneyes, ever hear of second and third shifts??? Guess you do not work and are on the government till. Lexington never sleeps, just like the Big Apple, and just like the Big Apple, Lexington has all the crime.
can you say illeagal alliens
Was there a camera at McDonald’s that would show the attack? If not, McDonald’s needs to close down their movie rental until thewy can afford one. They need to be responsible and do all they can to protect their customers.
The comments from the brother-inlaw and wife seems out of line. What is funny about getting struck with anything, let alone a bottle, and describeing yourself as….bottleheadswife???? Their comments tends to sound like this event never happened. If it did, that is one sick family!!!
