UPDATED: Baby-sitter’s call leads to abuse charges against couple

A Frankfort couple accused of abusing their infant son are scheduled to appear in court next week for an arraignment.
John Travillian, 21, and Ashley Travillian, 19, were arrested Thursday after a grand jury indicted them on a charge of criminal abuse.

Their arraignment has been scheduled for Jan 16. The couple were being held at the Franklin County Regional Jail Friday.

John Travillian’s bond was set at $50,000 cash; his wife’s bond was $20,000 cash.

A neighbor who was baby-sitting 3-month-old Joshua Travillian Dec. 20 called police after she noticed bruises that covered the baby’s body.

Joshua was taken to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for examination, and doctors discovered he also had a broken right leg, said Detective Mike Johnson of the Frankfort police department.

Johnson said Joshua looked like “a solid bruise” when he was taken to the hospital.

“I’ve seen a lot of child abuse cases. This one was pretty bad,” Johnson said. “Probably the only ones I’ve seen worse ended up in a fatality.”

Herald-Leader reporter Shawntaye Hopkins contributed to this story.

Police say John Travillian admitted that he abused Joshua. Authorities also held Ashley Travillian responsible because they say she did nothing to prevent the abuse.

“The grand jury felt that by the doctor’s report, there is no way she could not have known this,” Johnson said. Joshua and his 14-month-old sister are now in foster care.

Typical white trash. Lemme guess…they lived in a trailer?

Take these two losers out and do the same thing to them they did to that child.
EVERY day for a few years. Then cut the tubes and remove the testicles.

Hopefully, this child will not grow up to do this to his progeny.

The abuse of any child is a horrendous thing but it happens in mansions too. Not everyone who lives in a trailer is a child abuser.

Abuse happens all over in all walks of life. It happens in homes worth millions and in hovels. Its sad tho that our country will allow the mother to most likely take some parenting classes and then allow her to have these children back. I think they should NEVER be allowed back in her care! Anyone who allows another person to abuse their children should be held JUST AS RESPONSIBLE as the abuser is! Given the SAME amt of time in jail!

How on earth can people even THINK about abusing an infant??? Sick, sick, sick. I agree….do to them what this poor child has suffered. Then sterilize them as they have no right to have any more children! And, since my tax dollars are probably paying for the kids anyway, let me have them to raise. I’d love to have them!

Now watch carefully as social services work their hardest to get these children taken back to their parents.
This is only the beginning. The lives of these children will continue to be tortured … especially after the state jumps in.
What we need are stronger laws to protect the children…laws to protect a family only hurt children and cover up for parents.
But by the time the social services finish with “mending” this family, a good future for these children will be long gone.
Adopt them out now while there is still a chance.

Children aren’t punching bags, when the sitter turned them in she should be commended for caring enough to put herself at risk! Oh people like that don’t beat up adults, only children, they are defenseless. Also not all child abusers live in mobile homes, those in the mansions have great attorneys on retainer. May God help this child heal both physically and emotionally.
