A man died early Thursday after the passenger car he was driving struck a tree and caught fire, Bourbon County coroner Rosemary Kitchen said.
The man has not been identified.
The wreck happened about 1 a.m. on Briar Hill Road, near the Fayette-Bourbon county line, Kitchen said. The man was the only person in the vehicle.
Kitchen said some possible relatives have contacted the Bourbon County Coroner’s Office. But officials were still waiting Friday afternoon to determine whether they had the correct person.
The cause of the wreck was not available Friday.
