Reported 11/12/2008 to 11/13/2008

Theft: On 11/12/2008, a patron of the Dollar General store on Center Drive reported the theft of her purse.  The victim reported that she was shopping at the store and set her purse down in the area of the greeting cards.  She inadvertently left the purse unattended for a short period of time before realizing it.  When she returned for her purse, it was gone.  The purse was later located in another area of the store but a billfold containing credit cards, personal identification and $85.00 in cash was missing.

Theft: On 11/12/2008, Liberty Place Recover Center reported that the bulbs had been removed from eight exterior flood lights at the premises.  Time of theft was unknown.  Total loss:  $15.00

Burglary of Residence: On 11/12/2008, a resident of the 100 block of Pine Street reported that her apartment had been burglarized.  At approximately 10:30 P.M., a nearby resident notified police that the apartment was being unlawfully entered.  The suspects were gone when police arrived, but the resident of the apartment arrived shortly thereafter.  The resident reported being gone for only an hour.  The apartment door had been kicked open.  The resident reported a pair of shoes and six DVD’s as missing.  Suspects were identified and the investigation is ongoing.  Total loss: $100.00

Burglary of Residence: On 11/12/2008, a resident of the 900 block of E. Irvine Street reported a theft from her residence.  The victim reported that person(s) unknown entered her unlocked residence and removed a PlayStation2, valued at $89.00.

Burglary of Business: On 11/13/2008, the manager for the Dairy Queen on N. Keeneland Drive reported a burglary of the business.  The business closed at 11:30 P.M. on 11/12/2008, and when the manager arrived to open the business at 5:00 A.M., she discovered the business had been unlawfully entered.  There were no signs of forced entry but the office had been ransacked and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.  Two suspects were involved in the theft and the investigation is ongoing.

Burglary of Business: On 11/13/1008, at 12:45 A.M., police responded to a possible burglary at Auto Land #2 at 433 Big Hill Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers found that the front window of the business had been broken out to gain entry.  It appeared as if the suspect exited through the front door after entering through the broken window.  The manager of the business could nothing missing from the business.

Attempted Burglary: On 11/13/2008, the Madison County Road Department reported an attempted burglary of their building on S. Robbins Court.  Investigation revealed that during the overnight hours, someone attempted to force entry into the building through both the front and rear doors by breaking windows in the doors.  The culprit was unsuccessful in gaining entry to the building.

Theft from Residence: On 11/13/2008, a resident of an apartment in the 200 block of N. Madison Avenue reported that a cellular telephone had been stolen from her residence while she was asleep.  There were no signs of forced entry and a visitor to the home was identified as a suspect.  Total loss: $$50.00

Shoplifting: On 11/13/2008, police charged Tequila Gould, age 24, and Brandie King, age 25, both of Berea, for Theft by Unlawful Taking under $300 after the two were detained by Wal-Mart employees for shoplifting approximately $141.00 worth of merchandise from the store.
