This poor child. First and foremost of course - I blame the father and step-mother. What monsters. Then the system and those who were around the child - how could no one have seen what was happening to this child. People should have been calling and calling and calling some more - anything to get the attention of authorities. And I can’t believe that the mother of this child actually has the nerve to blame authorities for what happened. Where was she? I understand that sometimes children are taken away from their parents for reasons that turn out to be unwarranted…but how could she not have seen this child FOR A YEAR before she died? As I understand it - there was no restraining order against her….she could have visited the child any time she wanted and if the father tried to stop her - she could have called the police. But she didn’t. Apparently - she never even tried - and if she did she didn’t contact anyone either regarding the child’s physical state. Unbelieveable. They’re all monsters and deserve the worst possible punishment allowed by law. Rest in peace Michaela.

i dont think any child should be beat on…i think its stupid to beat on a child, it a parent didnt want a child then they shouldnt have had one that doesnt mean they can beat on him/her just b/c they dont want em’. i think that someone should either be put in jail for the rest of thier life or killed because thats not right and no one should be treated like that.

I think it is so retarded that someone would beat a child!I think they should be put in jail and killed for what they have done!It is just not right for anyone no matter who you are to take a innocents kids life! What did us kids ever do to any of you all?Where we born?SO,i think they should be executed for beating her and then killling her!If any of the cops dpon’t put them in jail then it’s just gonna keep happening so i think they need to be hung!!

What about the whole thing of her being removed from school? Do you really think she was being homeschooled by anyone? I think it was just a coverup for more stuff being done to that child and keeping it so that no one saw the injuries done to her. What kind of adult(s) bites a child on the ankles and behind their ear in retaliation for them getting out of line? Sounds like something a dog would do. I think the days of Michaela were a horror show since she went to live with her dad

Michaela should never have been living with her father and Joy to start with! Why was she living there with him when he beat the girl’s biological mother? You don’t give custody of a child to a batterer? A wife-beater!? Who was the bone-headed judge that allowed this to happen? They are at fault too.

      by Martina McBride
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she’s holdin’ back
Wearin’ the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn’t ask
It’s hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can’t rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she’s loved
      Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it’ll be too late

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
