A Bourbon County Animal Control officer was arrested Thursday morning and charged with sexual abuse after a woman reported that he made inappropriate sexual contact with her.
Floyde M. Campbell, 44, of Millersburg was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree sex abuse and second degree official misconduct, Paris police said.
A Paris woman told police that Campbell, as an animal control officer, entered her home last week and took her dog, Paris Police Chief Tim Gray said. The woman said Campbell returned later and made inappropriate sexual contact with her, police said.
A criminal complaint filed in the Bourbon County District Court says Campbell remained in the woman’s home after she told him to leave, and he grabbed her nipple.
After an investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday afternoon, Gray said.
Bourbon County Judge Executive Donnie Foley said Campbell has been suspended with pay until further notice. Jamie Campbell, a county road employee and an assistant Animal Control Officer, will be filling the duties of Animal Control Officer, Foley said.
Campbell was taken to the Bourbon County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
